  gray disabled-look on HTML

In pure HTML, as this is intended for a website, how can I make a text to look gray as the disabled options of a menu?

This CSS does the same but usign the opacity attribute
<style>
#trans{opacity:0.7; filter:alpha(opacity=70)}
</style>
<p id="trans">this text should looks gray</p>
