I was looking at the source code of a website and also this topic about the CSS for * (the star symbol). What is that * (star symbol) for in HTML?

It is for columns, cells, frames, etc. and it means that it should take all the available space remaining.
<frameset cols="100%,*">
   <frame>
   <frame>
</frameset>

the second frame will not be shown cos the first one is using all the available space. Is it clear now?
